A big shout out to an AP project located at the 500 Block of Craghead Street in Danville! Developer and client, Rick Barker has been chosen as a recipient of the 2022 Gabriella Page Preservation Award for Outstanding Preservation Project on behalf of Preservation Virginia's Awards Committee! Check out the before and after panoramic views.

Congratulations to the design team for receiving this award for the extraordinary multi-phased project that brings back an entire commercial block of Danville's Tobacco Warehouse District. Reusing historic buildings as restaurants, office spaces, art spaces, and lodging is a great example of how renovating historic commercial properties can help to completely transform entire neighborhoods and communities.

Award Description:
"The Gabriella Page Award, named for Preservation Virginia's longtime past president: recognizes a property owner, architect, design firm, contractor or developer for a residential, commercial or public-sector project that best exemplifies the use of preservation standards and brings an outstanding building into appropriate and relevant contemporary use."

"One of our favorite things about downtown Lynchburg is the abundance of historical buildings. The Depot Grille is no exception to that.
The N&W Freight Depot was originally built in 1878. The first photographed image here features the canal (~1900). In 1916, the original building was shortened to make way for a two story addition on the West End of the building (completed in second picture).
The West End structure that was to be built is what we now know as the Depot Grille, the last remaining structure of the N&W Freight building. Just look how much has changed in 144 years!
We’re so grateful to call this building our home for the last 18 years and we can’t wait to continue serving you for many years to come!

Contrary to popular belief, architects don't just sit around and draw cool buildings all day. 🙃 Our architects and designers regularly schedule site visits during construction to ensure structures and details are built correctly.
